Race Photos from Manila Sports Car Club's Facebook Page

A nice panoramic shot from MSCC, Sprint 2 Group B

The starting grid fro Sprint 2 of Group B...what an exciting race that was. The Fairlady was really "harassing" the Alfa Romea Giulietta on the long corners. If only it had more power so I can out accelerate the 2.o liter twin cam, twin carburetted Alfa after the corners.

Bernard and his guys helped me adjust the steering box on the Fairlady. Thank you so much! This just goes to show how close sports car enthusiasts are even though we've only met on the race day itself.

Clark Vintage Race Photos from Peter S.

The Fairlady and the Westfield-Lotus Eleven Replica. The Fairlady's chassis and suspension upgrades were able to cope with the tight long right hander. The lowered chassis and stiffer shocks greatly improved the handling characteristics and surprised a few.

Mechanical grip of the heavier Fairlady was superb and at par with the Westfield...surprisingly even with the skinnier 175/65/R14 Goodyear NCT 5 front tires. Rears were 185/70/R14 Goodyear NCT 5's. Using the stock steel wheels were okay with the non-race spec tires. Rear tires weren't rubbing anymore as compared to the Almex YSA alloy wheels I had installed previously.

Racing with the '67 Silver Fairlady - Hitachi-SU carbureted, port and polished head. We were slugging it out and having such a great race! I even had the Fairlady drifting at the straight after overtaking the Silver Fairlady. Luckily, I was able to countersteer and correct the drift or else... The Fairlady's handling characteristic was very forgiving...no snap oversteer. And it enabled me to build up my confidence as the race progressed...and even being able to race with the much faster 2 liter race prepared Alfa Romeo Giulietta in Heat 2.

Acceleration was better with the twin side Solex Mikuni powered Fairlady, but the clutch was already slipping especially going from 2nd to 3rd gear at full power. The 2nd gear synchro was also making noises and I had to double de-clutch to smoothly engage 2nd...successfully in several cases. I definitely need more practice!

My favorite shot from Peter...a warmed-up sandwich after an exhausting, but exciting race.

Thank you Peter for the memorable photos. Cheers!
