Cleaned Up Mikuni PHH40 Carburetors

I had a hard time using the wire brush to remove the dirt and gunk from the surface of the carburetor. I used a 3M carb cleaner, soaked the carbs for a few minutes, and brushed the dirt off...very effective, but time consuming. But it's worth it.

I'll be buying new screws and bolts before I install the carbs to the engine. I'll try to find stainless steel ones for durability. I can't wait to attach the Mikunis and drive away!

Hi, I saw the filter you intend to use on your car, and I am going to suggest that you find a different unit as those are prone to leak and could cause a fire. I race my 67.5 2000 and that filter would not pass tech for us.

There are many other options out there, and although that filter looks nice, it is a really bad idea.

Keep up the great work and hope to hear more about your racing adventures.

Hi Carter,

Thank you for your concern! I was also worried about using such a filter. I removed it after just a few months of using it, since it felt like it was disrupting the airflow into the air horns. I'm glad that you informed me about it causing a fire! Definitely, won't be using it anymore! Thanks again!
